Monique Joan, aka The Ghostly Librarian, is a paranormal enthusiast and aspiring horror/paranormal writer who hails from Melbourne, Australia. She loves nothing more than hearing a haunting ghost story on a cold, dreary evening—especially when there's tea, candlelight, and stormy weather involved!

In her spare time, she loves researching all things that go BUMP in the night, attending ghost tours and paranormal investigations, absorbing anything horror, true crime, paranormal/supernatural, or occult related, reading and writing, crafting, visiting small country towns, camping, taking photographs—particularly in strange abandoned places and cemeteries—and spending time with her wonderful husband and German Shepherd, Dexter, as well as her dear family and friends.

I created The Library of Ghosts as a way to document and express my personal love, interest, and research of the supernatural and paranormal, particularly cases from Australia, and my own ghost investigations and experiences.

 

Before The Library of Ghosts came to be, the blog was previously under the name 'The Violet Ghost,' which was a horror book review blog.​ It was reborn in 2025 as 'The Library of Ghosts.'

​

The name is a blend of my love for the paranormal and supernatural world, ghost stories, and the unknown, along with my career—surprise, I'm actually a real librarian! I've been working as a librarian since 2021, having received my Diploma of Library and Information Services in 2020. I also have a CERT IV in Professional Writing and Editing.
